We may have heard that meditation is a means for developing greater peace, happiness, and stability in our lives. That it improves our relationships, sleep, and overall physical health. Maybe we’ve even tried it a few times. However we find we struggle to concentrate, and, feeling discouraged, may give up on the idea.

In this series, we will practice some simple meditations, and by learning precisely what meditation is, and simple techniques to aid our meditation, we will develop greater confidence in our ability to meditate, and come to enjoy its many benefits.

This series is based on the chapter ‘What is Meditation’ from the book “How to Transform your Life” by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Finding Happiness

We long for happiness, and want our loved ones to be happy too. We work hard to achieve this aim, yet our goal often feels elusive.

In this series we will learn to develop deep happiness from within, through developing a strong mind of altruistic love. This will be a true source of happiness for us, but will also give us much greater power to help others effectively.

The Magical Practice of Taking and Giving

The focus of this course will be on the traditional healing meditations called Taking and Giving which are profound methods to strengthen our love and wisdom, clear away negativity, heal our body and mind, and ultimately lead us directly along the path to enlightenment. Suitable for all levels of experience, each class will include guided meditations and explanations of these practices based on Buddhist philosophy.
