Opening the Heart

August 23 | 30
September 6

We all long for deep and lasting happiness. Instinctively we tend to consider our own happiness as most important.  We can easily neglect or disregard the happiness of others.  This innate mental tendency finally betrays us, making our life isolated, lonely and hollow.

In reality the only way for us to achieve the lasting happiness we yearn for, is to develop a heartfelt and sincere belief that the happiness of others is also of great importance. Methods to generate this mind of cherishing love include recognising the kindness of others and contemplating the benefits of love in our own life.

This series is based on the chapter  ‘Learning to Cherish Others’ from the book How to Transform your Life, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Improving Our Relationships

September 13 | 20 | 27
October 4

We all want stable and nurturing relationships with others.  Sadly, at times, they can descend into conflict and distrust, becoming a source of anguish and insecurity.

In this series we identify certain internal tendencies which create these difficulties.  For instance, we may excessively focus on the faults of others, or blame them for our own emotional reactions.  At other times we fail to recognise the opportunities others provide, or even feel superior to others.  By recognising and letting go of these habits of mind, our relationships will naturally become more harmonious and long-lasting.

This series is based on the chapter  ‘How to Enhance Cherishing Love’ from the book How to Transform your Life, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Creating Extraordinary Change

October 18 | 25
November 1 | 8 | 15

Our mind creates our experience of life, and produces all our happiness and suffering.  Not realising this, the actual cause of our suffering is left unacknowledged and unaddressed.

In this series we will identify precisely the actual source of all our negativity, our self-cherishing mind, understand its faults, and begin to free ourselves from its destructive influence.  This process allows us to heal deeply and also develop profound levels of empathy and altruism.

This series is based on the chapter  ‘Exchanging self with Others’ from the book How to Transform Your Life, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Becoming Rich Within

November 22 | 29
December 6 | 13

To have within us powerfully positive states of mind, is to have an inner wealth of joy and stability.  Among the many beneficial minds that we can cultivate, compassion is especially precious and important.

In this series we will explore what exactly compassion is, how we can increase the compassion we already have, and eventually realise our ultimate potential. We will reflect on how essential compassion is in helping others, and recognise how it gives us a sense of abundance, meaning and self-worth.

This series is based on the chapter  ‘Great Compassion’ from the book How to Transform your Life, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
