Healthy families depend upon healthy parenting.  To be a good parent involves juggling endless stresses and demands, keeping a healthy perspective, and being an effective  role model for our children.

Our Parents and Tots class includes simple, practical and effective mindfulness and meditation methods perfect for busy parents and guardians that address the real-world challenges of parents in our busy world.

Each class includes:

Meditation to relax and refresh your mind

Engaging, practical teachings on topics relevant to life as a parent

Supportive discussion with like-minded, friendly parents and guardians

The class structure principally focusses on teaching adults, while children play with age-appropriate toys in the peaceful, inspiring setting of the temple.  Families are welcome to stay after class for tea and chat.

No previous experience of mindfulness or meditation is necessary, and no special clothing is required–just come as you are.

Please note: Pre-booking is essential to ensure quality of care for each class.

This class is intended specifically for parents and guardians with children aged 0-4 years old; if you have a child 5-11 years old, please book to attend our Kids Club class on Sunday afternoons instead.

joelleDespite our best intentions to enjoy our family and cherish our time with them, all too often we find that we become irritated and hostile towards our loved-ones. Often we have high or rigid expectations, and when we are tired and tested, our mind becomes tense, less flexible and less able to find solutions.

The result is bickering and blaming, and we are unable to relax and nurture our children’s good qualities, which can cause us further worry.

In this course we look at the practical situations that can trigger these tense, discontented minds. We will see that the situations themselves cannot disturb our mind, but rather, that our negative minds are a habitual response. Therefore we can learn new responses and work to prepare and protect our mind, giving us confidence, and the ability to respond in a more constructive way. In this way we can nurture a more open, flexible and humble attitude that allows us to appreciate, respect and learn from our family members and children.

Using meditation and contemplation in a friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere we will connect to our real nature and amazing potential to be the consistently loving and happy person we wish to be.

joelleOther people in our experience fall into three categories; our friends and loved-ones, people we don’t like or have hostility towards, and the vast majority of people to whom we feel indifference. In this 3-week series we will learn how this unbalanced attitude towards people is unrealistic and causes ourselves and others to suffer. We will engage in meditation and contemplation that allows us to question these instinctive categorisations and how to draw closer in our heart to everyone. This will not diminish or reduce the loving kindness we already enjoy in our existing close relationships, rather, it will enable us to expand this warm close feeling to many people, even strangers, ultimately giving us as well as others deep confidence and joy.
